DESCRIPTION:Conference on Advocacy and Citizenship at Fraternity School and Mina Diarra High School\nBackground\nAs part of its mission to promote peace\, civic engagement\, and youth empowerment\, Global Peace Chain Mali organized a conference on advocacy and citizenship at Fraternity School and Mina Diarra High School. The activity aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of their rights\, responsibilities\, and role as active citizens in building a peaceful and democratic society. \nObjectives\nGeneral Objective\nTo raise awareness among students about the importance of citizenship and advocacy in promoting positive social change. \nSpecific Objectives\n\nIncrease students’ knowledge of civic rights and responsibilities.\nIntroduce the concept and principles of advocacy.\nEncourage youth participation in community development initiatives.\nPromote leadership\, responsibility\, and peaceful coexistence.\nInspire students to become agents of change within their schools and communities.\n\nDescription of the Activity\nThe conference brought together students\, teachers\, and representatives of Global Peace Chain Mali for an interactive session focused on civic education and advocacy. \nKey themes discussed included: \n\nThe meaning and importance of citizenship.\nRights and duties of citizens.\nYouth participation in decision-making processes.\nAdvocacy as a tool for addressing community challenges.\nLeadership and community engagement.\nPeacebuilding and social responsibility.\n\nThe sessions included presentations\, discussions\, question-and-answer periods\, and practical examples that allowed students to better understand how they can contribute positively to society. \nResults Achieved\nThe conference achieved the following outcomes: \n\nIncreased awareness among students regarding civic responsibility and active citizenship.\nImproved understanding of advocacy and its role in influencing positive change.\nActive participation and engagement from students during discussions.\nStrengthened interest among young people in community service and leadership initiatives.\nEnhanced collaboration between educational institutions and civil society organizations.\n\nImpact\nThe activity contributed to empowering young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to become responsible citizens and future leaders. Students expressed a greater willingness to participate in community initiatives\, advocate for issues affecting their peers\, and contribute to peace and sustainable development. \nConclusion\nThe Conference on Advocacy and Citizenship successfully provided students of Fraternity School and Mina Diarra High School with valuable insights into civic engagement and advocacy. Through this initiative\, Global Peace Chain Mali reaffirmed its commitment to empowering youth and promoting a culture of peace\, responsibility\, and active citizenship among future generations.
